“I want something I can carry in my pocket”

Designed for workers on the moving around large freight warehouses, this tablet configuration was small enough to fit into a large pocket and tough enough to survive multiple drops onto concrete.

It was the first unit to include physical buttons and the only version to use overmolding for comfort and shock isolation.

The parallel display and sensor planes made imaging small objects on tables very intuitive. Still, objects that needed to be imaged from above the level of the users' eyes became very difficult to capture.

Design Requirements:

  • Create a rugged tablet prototype with a metal enclosure without respinning any of the PCBs

  • Keep heat away from the optics

  • Add mechanical buttons to supplement the touchscreen

  • Add overmolding analog to help with shock isolation and user comfort

Fabricated With:

  • CNC Mill

  • Selective Laser Sintering

  • Stereolithography
