“How exactly are we expecting people to use this?”
As this was an augmented reality device, we felt that the relationships between the angles of the grip, display, and sensors were particularly important.
The Discovery acts as a prism by bending the user’s line of sight as it passes into the display and out through the sensors.
As customers’ use cases spanned sizing hundreds of small parcels an hour at a retail counter to sizing car-sized objects on the ground, we wanted to make the devices as broadly useful as possible.
Design Requirements:
Adapt the previous enclosure to allow the user to modify the device to suit the task at hand.
Create and execute a test plan to try to identify one set of traits that would present retail, delivery, and warehouse workers with a system that was compelling enough to attract them away from their current solutions.
